This Project Report presents key findings from the three-year research project Buddhism in Australia: Wellbeing, Belonging and Social Engagement, with a special focus on the Survey of Buddhism in Australia. This Survey was conducted in seven languages including English, Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Sinhalese, Thai and Vietnamese between September 2025 and May 2026. The questions and languages used in the Survey on Buddhism in Australia were developed in consultation with the Project Advisory Board, with the aim of being as representative and inclusive as possible within the project’s time and budget constraints.
In distributing the survey, we contacted Buddhist organisations whose email addresses were publicly available through the directories of Buddhist Councils and BuddhaNet. We also distributed survey flyers at Vesak events where we had access and permission to do so. The Buddhism in Australia project team would like to thank everyone for their support and participation in the survey.
